Women's Basketball Team Drops Season Finale

MILLERSVILLE--The Bloomsburg University women's basketball team dropped its season finale on Saturday by a score of 76-54 to Millersville University.

After the Huskies fell behind 5-0 in the early going, they would rally back and take their only lead of the game at 6-5 with 16:05 to go in the half after Laura Lyons (Hatfield/Pennridge) scored four points and Jamie Kauczka (Kingston/Wyoming Valley West) added two free throws. The Marauders then went on 13-0 run to grab an 18-6 lead with 10:46 left in the opening half and take control of the game.

In the second half, the Huskies cut the deficit back to 11 points, 40-29, after back-to-back baskets from Kirby Johnson (Woodstown, NJ). But, Millersville used a 14-5 run to push its lead to 20 at 54-34, with 11:35 to go in the game. Bloomsburg could get no closer than 15 points the rest of the way.

Johnson led the Huskies (6-21, 3-8 PSAC East) with 18 points, while senior Jamie Kauczka scored 17 points and had 12 rebounds. In addition, freshman Kelly Joyce (Ashland/Cardinal Brennan) chipped in with 10 points for Bloomsburg.

Millersville (14-13, 8-4 PSAC East) was led by Danielle Marshall with 19 points, while Ashley Romanoski added 12 points and Jamika Rehm chipped in with 11 and 10 rebounds.
